Psalms 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty”

The Word “Abide” means to rest.  As I spend time with Him, then the time spent becomes a place of rest and retreat from the insanity of this world.  The my R and R stands for Rest and Relationship.

Rest is difficult for me.  I am a goal driven woman.  I learned early on that I was good at  achieving things I was passionate about, or things that could make me  look good in front of others.  I find great satisfaction in “killing the thing”!  I guess I am a warrior at heart.

But even warriors need rest and a time of leaning her head on His shoulders.  True Rest can only come through Christ.  Matthew 11:28, “come to Me, All who are weary and heavy-ladened and I will give you rest.”

If you come…  then He will…  our obedience is rewarded with a promise.  Rest is a command from the Lord.  It is something He does and sets an example for us to do.  On the 7th day He rested from His work.  If the God Almighty who never sleeps or slumbers chooses to rest, then how much more do we need to do so.

Let us find a few minutes this day to Rest our heads on His shoulders and learn of Him who created all things, including Rest.

Deuteronomy 33:12 “May the beloved of the Lord dwell in security by Him, who sheilds him all the day, and he dwells between His shoulders”.
