He was saved as a young man, with his mother, a lioness, praying with him beside his bed one night. She thought, that with their Amen, life would be easy.
But life is never easy especially when the Lord drapes his mantle over such young shoulders.
The young, sometimes they run. The prodigal trying to escape his own design, when the call of the world, the lust of the heart contrasts the Love of the Designer.
Drugging himself to silence a wooing that loves greater than the anger that comes from desire unfulfilled.
Long nights of a mother still praying beside a bed once warm with a little one that was full of hope, life, potential. Prayers asking God to keep him from the grave, to keep him from death until salvation was realized.
The years go past as the prayers of a mother wrestle with the wilds of a prodigal. Wrestling against principalities, and wickedness set on the high places.
A machete made of truth and Word, taken to the carvings made by human hands and wood. A machete, in the hands of a warrior-mom, a ruthless lioness, who is ready to devour any enemy to protect her child, is a thing to be feared by demons and human alike, because the Lord Jehovah goes before her in the battle!
In 2014 my heart hears the Lord calling, to prepare for his coming. I am beginning with me and my household. As important it is to choose carefully the school our children attend, which denomination we wear on our shirt like a name tag, or even what Bible verses we can quote, we must first make sure we and our children are walking with the Lord in Salvation.
I have seen so many children grow up in the church and never understand salvation. And when they are older, they walk away.
This year, my prayer is for people to find the Salvation of the Lord. For it to become real in their lives and not just a religious ritual of insignificance.
“Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for you brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.” (Nehemiah 4:14)

Oh, how I remember these long nights of battle…
They are not fun, but it the battles taught me more about God and his love than most other experiences in my life. Happy New Year, dear friend!
Wise and beautiful words Diane. This is my sole desire for my children, more than anything else in life. Without God and salvation we have nothing. Blessings dear friend.
Yes, Pat you and I know the power of a praying mama! Thank you for stopping by and visiting!
Deep, passionate and glorious words Diane. Beautiful encouragement for all moms.{I have no greater joy than to know that my children are walking in the Truth. 3 John 1:4}
There is great power in a mother’s prayers. Such an honor to have the Lord’s attentiveness and promises.
I love pulling up comments and seeing your sweet picture, Kathy. Praying for our children takes us from being a child to understand the Heart of our Father. Thank you for taking time and visiting. Love you!
One of the most important gifts a mother receives from God are His “people” – the friends He sends who don’t condemn your prodigal but pray with you, see him as God created him – and rejoice with you on that pivoting turn homeward. I think we could talk, Diane – for hours and days, sharing our battle scars and our rejoicings – and praying for each other in the challenges.
I’m doing a Sticky Faith unofficial small group that incorporates Don and Katie Fortunes book on how the gifts communicate – because I want their faith to stick. We changed schools to a Latin school where the bible class/history is brought into the literature, history and science – and we have sighed in relief. Wish we could have done it with sons 2 and 3 – but the school wasn’t available then. I could write you a book note – but I won’t torment you like that! Blessings my friend – in your physical, emotional and spiritual fight for your children – He is with us all the way! Send me a note if you ever need a prayer partner!
Thank you MaryLeigh, for you generous offer to be my prayer partner, and Let me extend the same to you. Contact me anytime as we can pray together. Waiting on God is not easy as we pour out our heart in prayer. It is good to know that a kindred spirit is on the other line. Love you susta!
I join you in this fight, Diane, for every mother’ s child. I love the verse you quoted from Nehmiah as a battle cry. I take Luke 7:15 as my reminder that victory over the evil one has already been won and wait prayerfully for Jesus to give back children to their mothers. Your imagery is powerful and inspiring. Thank you!
Suffice it to say I am the result of one of those mothers who battled many nights alone and with partners. Thank you to her for her prayers. And thanks to you for carrying on that important bit of grace.
Dear Scott, I am so glad to meet you. I am so thankful for your testimony! You are a life speaker, you have a testimony, speak life! Thank you for stopping by and visiting. I would love to hear more!
