Hey friend, are you struggling with how to know you are beautiful? It seems in January and June, women stress over their age and appearance. In January because we have eaten and had fun over the holidays, and June, when we face a summer, and a more revealing wardrobe.
Waistlines try to escape from waistbands, and hair begins to highlight itself white. Then, the metabolism and memory go on vacation together leaving me to fend for myself!
In a society that places a high value on physical perfection and beauty it is no wonder that we struggle to accept our appearance.
I have started a Pinterst page showing pictures of women who are aging gracefully.
Beauty, real beauty, begins with the eyes. Oh yes – It is true!
The expression on your face is the first thing people see on you. A true smile begins in the very center of your being and travels out through our eyes.
You have a true smile deep inside of you. Just stop for a moment and close your eyes. Look inside of yourself. Inhale, Exhale…there it is, your smile.
“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future.” Proverbs 31:25
Today would you begin to smile at your future? Would you share that smile with someone who is not as far down the path of life as you?
You don’t need to see the future to smile – you don’t need to control it, just smile at it. You don’t need to fear the future, or the summer wardrobe, because that is not what defines you! It is your joy, that is seen when you smile
When you trust in the Lord, your strength, dignity, then a smile will begin with Christ, who is deep in you heart – right where you invited Him to live.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; therefore the center of my being exults, and with my joyful song I will thank Him.” Psalms 28:7
Smile, for you are loved;
Smile, you are strengthened;
Smile, with songs of Thankfulness;
Smile, you are beautiful;
Smile, you are loved.

Mary, You ARE one of those women whose beauty begins from her center and radiates all the way through the computer screen! Love you friend!
As a woman who is quickly closing in on 50 (I’ll actually be 47 in September), I’ll admit that I’ve struggled with the “highlights” that seem to increase daily and a little sad to admit that instead of giving in and aging gracefully I’ve fought it with a monthly color correction 🙂
I have noticed that more than the lines around my eyes and the gray in my hair has changed…
I’ve grown in patience.
I’ve appreciated more and needed less.
I’ve learned to love deeper.
and I’ve begun to truly believe that I am who God says I am and I can do all things through Him.
Growing more in grace and growing older more gracefully…I think I can embrace that!
Thanks for this encouragement Diane-
from an “old” friend 🙂
Lanette, I’ll turn 54 this year, and I LOVE this time of Life! No Fear! You will have a blast!
