Is there any greater joy than for your love to present a ring and mark you as his?  To mark the one for whom his passion drives him to do what he might not left on his own.

A man gives a ring, the Son gives the spirit; marking the beloved as chosen, set aside, and under his protection.

Each time a ring is given a sacrifice is made – the landscape of life is changed for both man and woman.  The single life is over, the beloved takes priority over friends, and the two spend the rest of their lives lovingly becoming one while still allowing their individuality to grow into all they were created to be.

And they grow in respect with wisdom knowing the generation behind them is watching and learing to love.

So easy it is, for the years to pass and the fire of love’s first kiss to cool.  Discovery can be replaced by routine and tender joy by responibilities.

Oh, Father, tenderize our hearts to return to our first love.

The love given by the Father love that brings about joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness.

Love whose battle cry is faithfulness, rightousness, self-control.

Hang my locket around your neck, wear my ring on your finger.  Love is invincible facing danger and death.  Passion laughs at the terrors of hell.  The fire of love stops at nothing – it sweeps everything before it.  Flood waters can’t drown love, torrentsof reain can’t put it out.  Love can’t br bought, lobe can’t be sold- it’s not to ber found in the marketplace. Song of Solomon 8:6-8

And by these acts, we begin to understand the passion of Christ for us, the love of the Father, and the gift of new life as Christians.
