Five Minute FridayIt s Friday!  Time for the Gypsy Mama’s Five Minute Friday!  Today’s  prompt…Beloved.

We married as a family, my beloved and I.  He and I were saying “I do” with all of our children beside us.

During this holy ceremony, a comedy show was going on.

One Child expelled gas, and  was whispering too loudly, denying that it happened.

One Child was kicking the one who expelled the gas – And the preacher had to break up the subtle fight.

One child was picking his nose and wiping it on Doc’s tuxedo.

And, one child, with head tilted back, was watching a spider building a web.

This was only the beginning of the tales that I could tell you  from a step family.

As of last Tuesday, Doc and I have been successfully married for thirteen years.  Divorce was never an options, but living on different planets was a consideration at times.  Trying to teach them what real family looks like with team work, love, respect, through the kaleidoscope of step family was no small job.  I tell everyone, “step families are not for the tender of hide”.  All of the broken pieces trying to come together as something of great beauty – constantly turning, and changing our perspective of family as we try and define our family.

Yet, all things considered, a journey worth taking.
