Deidra is the Author of, Every Little Thing, and the founder of Jumping Tandem. In today’s episode we had some technical difficulty and lost our connection several times, but God is good and we were able to reconnect and finish the podcast.
Deidra talks about the Holy Spirit, doing hard things and going to places God calls you to go when that is not where you want to go. We also talk about being a parent of adult children and loving them no matter what their choices.

Thank you, ladies! The technical difficulties did not detract at all from this wonderful conversation! I have read Deidra’s book, and this was a helpful review. I was glad to revisit her sound advice: “Celebrate who you are.” “Don’t wish yourself away.” “God is the God of Through!”
Thanks for another excellent and informative podcast!
Such an encouraging message. And I love hearing the warmth of those southern voices. Now I want to go back and listen to past podcasts.
Woot Woot, a sister who is a disco nut (Sister Sledge,Donna Summer, Pointer Sisters) and a fan in the Big Ten. On Empty Nest, I have one out of the nest and one graduating college in May. As I tell my husband, I am retired from being their teacher, but I am available for consults. My boys are different as day and night. One born in winter, the other in summer. They are unbelievers with lots of science still rumbling around in their heads. And I pray everyday over them and leave the rest to our Creator.
I remember back to my teens, when I fell away from church because of the stringent, stuffy, relentless routines and the hypocrisy of the church members. In my late twenties and early thirties, I started the church search. I went to Pentecostal, Baptist, Charismatic, Evangelical, etc.. I took a little bit of this or that from each experience and kind of came up with my own idea of what Christian worship meant to me. The Holy Spirit found me during this time and I can remember thinking, is this real. As the church I came from did not talk about the gifts of the Holy Spirit in a person.
Deidra mentions her experience of being a person of color coming to Nebraska, and it reminds me of my experience of being white and coming from a predominantly white state, to moving down south in the eighties, (which was very hard for me to leave all my family and friends), where race was more mixed and the attitudes and the voices were different all around.
I read her book and some of the things she wrote made me feel, she was right here next to me, visiting my house. I could relate to so many of the things she said. I would love to meet Deidra in person. There is so much I would love to talk with her about.
God thank you for blessing us with this daughter of yours, named Deidra Riggs (here on earth).
Thank Diane and Holley for this podcast.
