Surrounded

Surrounded, is a byzantine pattern woven bracelet, made from sterling silver chain surrounding a Lapis Lazuli stone bead.

An older Southern woman I know once said, "Lordy, I'm surrounded, by alligators and snapping turtles!".  Which, translated means, I'm surrounded by things that want to destroy me. Fear is usually what destroys us long before any enemy. We look at our circumstances and believe that we are surrounded and defeated by our enemy before the battle begins.

When Elisha's assistant awoke early that morning, he looked out on what might be a beautiful day, and he saw the enemy had surrounded their town with armaments of war. Fear gripped his heart as he cried out to Elisha, "What should we do?".  Wise old Elisha had eyes to see what his assistant could not, and told him with a smile, "Don't be afraid, those who are with us are more than those who are with them."

Then, Elisha prayed for the lad's eye to be opened to the truth. The young man blinked, and saw what he had not seen before – up on the hills surrounding them was a greater number of God's warriors surrounding the enemy.

There are times when it seems like you are surrounded by alligators and snapping turtles of the enemy. But ask God to give you eyes to see the truth. Even though the enemy thinks they have you in a position of defeat, look up, because the army of God has surrounded you, and they are greater in numbers and in strength! (2 Kings 6:8-17)
